Real-World Work

Not theory.
Work tied to decisions.

Representative assignments where legal, scientific, financial, and structural complexity had to be converted into a defensible investment judgment.

What the work involves

Follow the evidence. Structure the risk.

These were not generic strategy exercises. The work required testing claims, understanding counterparties, challenging assumptions, modeling recoveries and delays, evaluating security structures, and deciding whether the expected return justified the actual risk.

Investment experience

Selected work and repeatable frameworks.

01Structured credit · Special situations

TruPS CDO Opportunity

Helped develop the analytical framework for acquiring distressed trust-preferred-securities CDOs. The work required looking through complex structures to the underlying bank and insurance-company collateral, modeling cash flows and recoveries, and determining where market pricing diverged from fundamental value.

02Direct investing · Structured capital

PIPE Investing and Restructuring

Evaluated, structured, and managed direct investments using convertible preferred stock, debentures, warrants, and related protections. When facts or financing needs changed, the work extended beyond the initial thesis to restructuring, reducing exposure, protecting liquidity, and reassessing the path to value.

03Private credit · Direct lending

Private-Credit Underwriting

Underwrote private-credit and direct-lending opportunities by evaluating business quality, enterprise value, collateral, repayment capacity, covenants, priority, and recovery under downside cases. The objective was not simply to identify yield, but to understand what protected principal and what had to happen to be repaid.

04Biotechnology · Public and private investing

Life-Science Investing

Applied a consistent framework across vaccine development, non-invasive glucose monitoring, and gene regulation: identify large underserved needs, test whether the science was credible and differentiated, assess management’s judgment, determine whether new capital could advance a meaningful milestone, and evaluate visible clinical, regulatory, or commercial catalysts.

05Litigation finance · Specialty credit

Legal-Asset Underwriting

Evaluated investments involving Camp Lejeune claims, AFFF/PFAS litigation, European diesel-emissions programs, and diversified legal-asset collateral. The analysis connected claimant eligibility and validation, legal and scientific evidence, counterparty execution, settlement pathways, timing, attrition, concentration, and downside protection.

06Strategic finance · Fractional leadership

Fractional CFO and Advisory Work

Supported founders and leadership teams with senior-level financial judgment, research, planning, and decision support without the overhead of a full-time executive. The work focused on converting complex financial and operating questions into clear priorities, credible analysis, and actionable recommendations.
